About Me

Hi there, I'm Ziad (he/him)! I'm getting my Masters in Interactive Entertainment at FIEA, University of Central Florida. I want to make games accessible, and I'm not waiting until I'm in the industry to do so.

I've made games through my classes, fellowship, job, study abroad, and game jams. These experiences have included the following:

  • team sizes of 2-24

  • hybrid and remote teams

  • educational content experts that don't know the technical aspects of making games

  • contributors who don't speak English as their first language

I know my collaborative skills will always have room to grow, but all this is to say, I've had ample opportunity to develop them.

How do my hobbies make me a more effective game designer?

  • Study of architecture features

  • Design requires understanding of medium's limitations

  • Takes "paper prototype" to a new level

Reading

I read a little bit each day! As game designers we can only cook with what's in the kitchen. Reading is one way I keep the metaphorical fridge full! Game designers benefit from different perspectives that books giveFor this reason, I don't let my reading end with game design books.
